Ca Mau (VNA) – Deer, wild boar, otters, mongooses, monocle cobras and painted storks are among rare and valuable animals recently found ܫin the U Minh Ha National Park, in the southernmost province of Ca Mau, according to the park’s management board.

The park is an ideal place for researching wild animals, said Huynh Minh Nguyen, director of the U Minh Ha National Park.
Scientific research conducted in 2010 revealed that the park was home to distinctive flora and fauna such as 32 mammal species and 74 bird species.
The park is currently home to 700-800 heads of deer, hundreds of wild boar and a variety of precious birds like painted storks and pelicans. U Minh Ha National Park, covering Ca Mau province’s U Minh and Tran Van Thoi districts, has a total area of 8,500 hectares. It was recognised by UNESCO as one of the three core zones of the Ca Mau World Biosphere Reserve in June 2009.-VNA
