With the strong development of science, mass media, and digitaltechnology, the press, including radio broadcasting, is required to stayactive, creative and cooperative in order to satisfy the socialincreasing demand for a wide range of information, said Prime Minister(PM) Nguyen Tan Dung.
PM Dung made the emphasis atan opening ceremony of the 2013 RadioAsia Conference, the onlyinternational radio broadcasting event of its kind in the region, hostedby Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and the Asia-Pacific BroadcastingUnion (ABU) in Vietnam.
Vietnamese leader said thathis government has enforced many policies to forge the development ofthe national broadcasting by modernising technology, implementingdigital application, professionalising production and diversifying typesof programmes, aiming to better satisfy the local and internationaldemand for information.
He lauded the Vietnamesebroadcasting sector for making active contributions to the country’ssocio-economic development and enhance the spiritual cultural life ofpeople, especially those from the far-flung areas and islands.
With the theme “Radio and Social Media: Where to next”, the three-dayevent is expected to bring together about 500 delegates, includingleading radio broadcasters, communication specialists, policymakers andacademics from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
Participants will voice their opinions on a host of heated topics suchas Radio on the Move: A New Era Dawns; A New Dimension of Radio; KillerApps for Radio; Interacting with the ‘Connected’ Audience; Storytellingand the ‘On-air’ Imagination; Folklore in Vietnamese Radio; and Radio:The Private Realm ‘Cute Producer – Creative Listener.’
Initiated by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) in 2006, theannual RadioAsia conference, has been hosted in many countries, namelySingapore , Malaysia , India and Indonesia .
As a full member of ABU since 1964, VOV has been affirming its active role in the union.-VNA
