Quang Tri province welcomes cruise of foreign tourists
Nearly 60 foreign passengers and crew members of the Panorama II cruiser arrived in Quang Tri on April 8 for a tour of the central province’s historical relic sites, once a fierce battlefield in Vietnam.

Quang Tri (VNA) – Nearly 60 foreign passengers andcrew members of the Panorama II cruiser arrived in Quang Tri on April 8 for atour of the central province’s historical relic sites, once a fiercebattlefield in Vietnam.
A ceremony was held at Hop Thinh Port of CuaViet township, Gio Linh district, to welcome the visitors, many of whom arefrom the US, Canada, and Australia.
This is also the first time the Panorama II has dockedin Quang Tri.
During their one-day stay, the tourists are scheduledto visit the special national historical relic site of Vinh Moc Tunnels in VinhLinh district – once a bomb shelter for locals during wartime. They are alsodue to visit Ta Con Airport in Huong Hoa district – previously a military base forUS troops.
The group is also provided with informationabout local cultural identities, famous landscapes, and other renowned relicsites, including Hien Luong Bridge on Ben Hai River that was used as thedividing line between northern and southern Vietnam, Quang Tri Ancient Citadelwhich witnessed fierce battles, and the national cemeteries of Road 9 andTruong Son which are home to the graves of over 20,000 martyrs.
Before setting foot in Quang Tri, the touristdelegation had already visited central Da Nang city.
Quang Tri aims to attract about 2 millionvisitors in 2019, including around 175,000 foreigners and earning some 1.74trillion VND (75 million USD) from the industry.
Last year, it welcomed 1.82 million visitors, upover 10 percent from 2017; as well as raked in over 1.62 trillion VND (69.9million USD) in tourism revenue, according to the provincial Department ofCulture, Sports, and Tourism.–VNA
