Quang Ninh announces department-level competitiveness index

Quang Ninh (VNA) – The People’sCommittee of the north-eastern province of Quang Ninh announced the Departmentand District Competitiveness Index (DDCI) 2017 at a conference in Ha Long cityon January 24.

The committee also revealed initial researchoutcomes of a programme on the pilot implementation of the social networkanalysis (SNA).

The DCCI scores and rankings were conductedbased on the survey of 1,500 businesses, including companies, cooperatives, andbusiness households, focusing on such criteria as transparency and dynamism ofthe governance system, equal competitiveness, legal institutions, and heads’responsibilities.

Five top localities include Cam Pha city, QuangYen town, Mong Cai, Uong Bi and Ha Long cities.

Meanwhile, five leading departments in the DCCIrankings 2017 were the Department of Customs, the Department of Planning andInvestment, and the Department of Taxation, the Department of Education andTraining, and the management board of economic zones.

Chairman of the provincial People’s CommitteeNguyen Duc Long reiterated the local motto of serving businesses and people andconsidering the private economy an important momentum in economic development.

He urged all departments and localities to pushahead with administrative reform to increase transparency and create a healthyinvestment environment.

Quang Ninh leaped to the third position in 2015and the second place in 2016 from the fifth place in 2014 in the rankings ofprovincial competitiveness index (PCI).-VNA
