Quang Ninh (VNA) – The northerncoastal province of Quang Ninh was advised to focus on the threepillars of natural resources, historical and revolutionary relic sites, andculture in order to bolster local tourism.
Minister of Culture, Sports, and TourismNguyen Van Hung made the suggestion at the province’s tourism development conferenceheld in Ha Long city on March 17.
He said Quang Ninh should developspecial travel products that could not be found anywhere else, increase the popularisation of its image, open overseas representative offices, and apply itself to tackling difficultiesin tourism development such as manpower shortages and environmental pollution.
The conference was also a chance forother localities nationwide to learn local tourism development lessons,including making constant reforms and capitalising on local natural andcultural resources, the official noted, adding that Quang Ninh has continuallybeen one of the best performers nationwide in attracting domestic andinternational visitors.
In his remarks, Secretary of theprovincial Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Ky emphasised that Quang Ninh welcomesand pledges to provide the best possible conditions for domestic and foreignbusinesses to promote operations here to ensure safety and a full experience fortourists.
Over the past years, it has beenworking hard to switch to green and sustainable development based on thepillars of nature, humans, and culture in combination with optimising cooperation and integration trends, and newtechnologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
In 2022, Quang Ninh adopted thepolicy of safely and flexibly adapting to and effectively controlling theCOVID-19 pandemic; making use of all mechanisms to recover tourism; andrecovering and developing tourism manpower. As a result, it attracted 11.6 milliontourist arrivals, including 304,000 international visitors, and earned 28trillion VND (nearly 1.2 billion USD) in tourism revenue. The sectorcontributed to 6% of the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) last year, Kynoted.
For 2023, the province looks to establishitself as a premier destination in Vietnam and welcome 15 million touristarrivals, 500,000 higher than pre-pandemic period in 2019, and gain some32.4 trillion VND in revenue, according to the Vice Chairwoman of its People’s CommitteeNguyen Thi Hanh./.
To fulfil its target of welcoming 15 million tourists and earning 32.4 trillion VND (1.36 billion USD) this year, the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, home to Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage, plans to introduce 24 new tourism products in April.
