Hanoi (VNA) – The tourism departmentof central Quang Binh province announced on January 21 plans to woo Hollywoodmoviemakers.

On January 23, clips will be screened in aHollywood cinema to introduce the natural beauty of Quang Binh to US filmproducers, directors, actors and media groups.

Later from January 25-27, Quang Binh representativeswill attend the New York Times Travel Show in New York to popularise theworld’s largest cave system Son Doong.

Following the event, Quang Binh will inviteHollywood producers, scriptwriters, directors and actors to the province forsightseeing.

It is the first time a Vietnamese provincewill introduce its local images to the world’s movie capital.

Quang Binh was among the three Vietnameselocalities chosen for the shooting of parts of the 2017 Hollywood blockbuster “Kong:Skull Island”.    

Scenes wereshot in Trang An, Van Long and Tam Coc in the northern province of Ninh Binh;the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Rao Nan River and Yen Phu Lake in thecentral province of Quang Binh; and Ha Long Bay in the northern coastalprovince of Quang Ninh.

Channel News Asiaquoted the film’s director Jordan Vogt-Roberts as saying that Vietnam providedthe “perfect aesthetic” for the film. 

 “The look of Vietnam is gorgeous andotherworldly at the same time,” he said, adding that “There’s such a raw,powerful and unspoiled beauty that general audiences hadn't experienced onscreen before.”

Quang Binh ishome to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Phong Nha -Ke Bang National Park and theworld’s largest cave Son Doong.

The province also has the longest coastline inVietnam, with beautiful beaches and delicious seafood.

Quang Binh hopesto welcome 4.3 million visitors in 2019, about 250,000-300,000 of themforeigners, and earn some 5 trillion VND (more than 214 million USD) fromtourism. 

In 2018, the locality reaped significantachievements in tourism development. It greeted more than 3.9 million visitors,a year-on-year rise of 18.2 percent. 

Notably, the number of foreign arrivals to thelocality exceeded 200,000, up 53 percent compared to 2017. -VNA
