Promotion decisions handed over to senior public security, military officers

Hanoi (VNA) ♛– Party General Secretary and President To Lam, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Chairman of the National Defence and Security Council, handed over promotion decisions to senior public security and military officers during a ceremony in Hanoi on October 20.

Under the decisions, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang and Deputy Minister of National Defence Nguyen Tan Cuong have been promoted from the rank of Senior Lieutenant General to General. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Doan Anh has been promoted to Senior Lieutenant General.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Lam congratulated the three promoted officers, affirming that this shows the Party, State and people's deep trust in and attention to the armed forces. It is also a recognition of the important contributions of the officers to the cause of building and developing the army and public security as well as the cause of national building and safeguarding. He said that strengthening national defence, maintaining national security, political stability, and social order and safety are important and regular tasks of the Party, the State, the entire political system and people, with the People's Army and the People's Public Security as the core.
He asked the newly-promoted officers were urged to uphold the glorious tradition of the heroic People's Army and People's Public Security, maintain revolutionary ethics, be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people, and well implement President Ho Chi Minh's teachings. General Quang on behalf of the three promoted officers, expressed gratitude for the special attention of the Party, the State, the people, ministries, agencies, the Vietname Fatherland Front and organisations, localities, and generations of public security and defence officers and soldiers for supporting them to fulfil their assigned tasks. He pledged to be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, people, Party and State; wholeheartedly serve the nation and people; always put the interests of the nation and people above all; implement President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on the ethics of a general; and thoroughly, effectively implement the instructions of the Party General Secretary and President./.
