Quang Nam (VNA)🦄 – The Republic of Korea (RoK) – Vietnam community art project was launched in Tam Thanh commune, Tam Ky city in the central coastal province of Quang Nam on June 10, aiming to add new colour to seashore fishing villages with wall-paintings.

The project, jointly implemented by the Korea Foundation and UN Habitat in Vietnam , was part of the Korea Foundation Community Art Exchange Programme that targets improved living conditions for locals and brings fine art closer to the public.
The painted houses are expected to lure visitors to Tam Ky, while enabling locals to express their characteristics through painting as part of the creative community art. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Park Kyoung Chul, Korea Foundation Director in Vietnam, said that the project not only creates a chance for the two sides to exchange and share ideas on community art organisation and development, but also contributes to changing the face of the villages and boosts tourism.
The project will also make locals’ houses real art spaces, he said. Earlier, a group of RoK artists came to the site to design ideas for the wall-paintings. The walls have also been cleaned to get ready for the paintings. As scheduled, the project will finish by June 28.-VNA
