Over the past years, tourism incoastal localities has significantly contributed to Vietnam’s economicdevelopment, accounting for over 60 percent of the country’s tourismrevenue.

Earnings from tourism in these localities have posted an annual growth rate of 24 percent in the past 15 years.

However, weak waste treatment systems are causing environmentalpollution at several beaches in Vietnam, requiring drastic measures todeal with the increasingly concerning situation.-VNA
