Hanoi (VNA) – A programme featuring theculture of the Republic of Korea took place in Ly Thai To flower garden inHanoi on April 8-9.

The event was jointly organised by the Korea TourismOrganisation (KTO) and the municipal People’s Committee as part of activitiesto mark the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Vietnam and theRoK.

It was attended by Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and Ambassador of the RoK to Vietnam LeeHyuk.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Ngo Van Quy,Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee underlined the growingrelationship between the two nations over the past 25 years, affirming that theRoK is among the top partners of Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular inall fields, particularly in foreign direct investment, education – training,and culture.

The event presents opportunities to local peopleto understand more about the people and culture of the RoK, Quy added.

The programme featured numerous activities,including traditional and modern art performances, tourism promotionactivities.

KTO Director General Jung Chang Soo said as manyas 1.5 million RoK people visited Vietnam in 2016. The country also recordedremarkable growth in the number of Vietnamese arrivals, with a 54.4-percentrise in 2016, and an increase of 30.1 percent in the first quarter of this year.

KTO will boost tourism promotion in localities tolure more Vietnamese tourists to the RoK, such as introducing the FIFA U-20World Cup which will take place in the RoK and other tourism products, hesaid.-VNA
