Productivity explored at Hanoi forum

The Vietnam Productivity and Quality Centre (VPQC) in coordination with the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) on Feb. 17 held the 16 th forum on productivity and quality in Hanoi, to discuss methods of renewing management systems as a way to develop businesses.

At the forum, more than 200 participating experts and leaders ofenterprises heard reports on the role of productivity, strategies toraise productivity and collective factors in quality of economic growth.

They also exchanged experience and methods ofincreasing working productivity, introduced management models and toolsto improve the quality of business management as well as ways to enhancecompetitiveness through restructuring management systems.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of VPQC said Vietnam needs to launch arevolution of productivity in order to maintain the current growth rate.

According to reports on productivity from APO andMalaysia, Vietnam’s working productivity has only been recorded at 2,072USD per labourer per annum, the lowest figure compared with nine otherAsian countries – Thailand, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore,China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Indonesia.

The forum, which is an annual event, has been applauded by manyorganisations and businesses since it was held for the first time in1996./.
