Glasgow (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President of theUS Joe Biden, President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Moon Jae-in, Prime Minister ofThailand Prayut Chan-o-cha, and the Chairperson and CEO of the Global EnvironmentFund (GEF) in Glasgow, the UK, on late November 1 (UK time).
Theseparate meetings took place within the framework of the ongoing 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).
PMChinh and President Biden agreed to further promote the Vietnam - US comprehensivepartnership, including the cooperation in finance and technology to deal withclimate issues, especially to fully implement the mechanisms under the ParisAgreement on climate change.
TheVietnamese leader welcomed US businesses’ engagement in green and sustainabledevelopment areas in Vietnam.
Talkingto the RoK President, PM Chinh said he hopes the two countries will furtherintensify their strategic partnership and strengthen ties in all fields, frompolitics, diplomacy, trade, investment to people-to-people exchange andculture.
PresidentMoon agreed that their countries will keep close cooperation to bolsterrelations in economy, trade, and especially, high technology.
Vietnamand the RoK will reinforce cooperation via all channels and in all aspects, includingboosting delegation exchanges, both leaders concurred.

PM Chan-o-cha affirmed that Thailand is ready to boostmultifaceted connections with Vietnam, including investment, innovation, sustainabledevelopment, digital transformation, and human resources training.
The leaders pledged to continue working closely withother ASEAN members to build the ASEAN Community and enhance relations withpartners.
PM Chinh vowed support and close coordination toensure success for the ASEAN Year 2022 in Thailand.
Meeting with Chairman and CEO of the GEF Carlos ManuelRodriguez, PM Chinh said Vietnam welcomes and highly values the fund’slong-term vision and assistance for countries to implement programmes andprojects to achieve nature recovery, carbon neutrality, and no pollution by2050.
The GEF leader applauded the Vietnamese Government’sefforts in recent years to deal with environmental and climate change issues,noting that its commitments made at the COP26 are very strong and timely,showing the country’s readiness to join hands with the international communityto cope with climate change and protect the environment.
The GEF will continue accompanying and is ready tohelp Vietnam with climate change response, he added./.
