Prime Minister joins Can Tho residents in solidarity festival

Can Tho (VNA) – Prime MinisterPham Minh Chinh attended a great national solidarity festival in Nhon Aicommune of Phong Dien district, the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, on November17.
The annual event is to mark the 92nd anniversary of the Vietnam National United Front, now the Vietnam FatherlandFront (VFF) (November 18, 1930 - 2022).
More than 300 residents representingover local alsotook part in the festival.
In his remarks, PM Chinh stressedthat promoting the great national solidarity is a strategic and vital policyand also a decisive factor of the revolution’s success. Over the last 19 years,the organisation of great national solidarity festivals in residential areashas become a tradition, helping bring the Party and State closer to the people.
The festivalsat the grassroots level aim to consolidate and bring into play the strength of thegreat national solidarity. They also provide an occasion for reviewing theimplementation of patriotic emulation campaigns and movements, including thoseon new-style rural area and civilised city building and poverty reduction, aswell as for honouring outstanding collectives and individuals in communitydevelopment, he noted.
He also highly valued efforts by theParty organisation, administration, VFF committee, socio-politicalorganisations, and residents in Nhon Ai commune to help strengthen the greatnational solidarity, promote socio-economic development, and care for locals’material and spiritual lives.
The Government leader also asked thelocal community to uphold solidarity to overcome difficulties, developlivelihoods, assist one another, and actively engage in emulation movements soas to help improve the effectiveness of socio-economic development programmesand build a strong solidarity bloc.
At the festival, PM Chinh alsosymbolically presented 20 houses worth 1 billion VND (40,300 USD) funded by theCentral Fund for the Poor to disadvantaged families in Can Tho city./.
It is necessary to bring into play the strength of the whole nation and political system, make full use of support from the international community and promote all resources and creativeness of the people in building and safeguarding the Fatherland, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc said while chairing a workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on August 16 to discuss theoretical and practical issues on the protection of the Fatherland in the new situation.
The “Great Solidarity of Ethnic Groups- Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Week 2022" will take place at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi from November 18-23, featuring a wide range of activities.
