Prime Minister, Japanese Ambassador discuss Vietnam-Japan ties

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phucreceived Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda in Hanoi on June 20 todiscuss measures to promote cooperation between the two countries.
Via the diplomat, PM Phuc wished to express histhanks to his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe for inviting him to attend theG20 Summit and visit the country later this month.
The trip will be made at a time when theVietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership is flourishing in variousspheres, he noted.
Ambassador Umeda said Japanese businesses planto expand investment in Vietnam, a country with huge development potential andalways creating optimal conditions for investors.
He also mentioned several problems in bilateralcooperation that need to be addressed such as those relating toeducation-training, investment and trade.
Appreciating the diplomat’s opinions, PM Phucasked the ambassador to coordinate with the Vietnamese side to ensure that hisupcoming visit to Japan will reap the best possible results, thereby liftingthe countries’ cooperation to a new height in all fields, including economy,trade and investment.
As extensive strategic partners, the two sideshave high political trust, the leader noted, adding that he also welcomesstronger people-to-people and cultural exchange.
At the meeting, the Vietnamese PM also gaveopinions about ways to solve the problems pointed out by the ambassador.-VNA

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
