Tokyo (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phucattended the coronation ceremony of Japanese Emperor Naruhito in Tokyo onOctober 22 at the invitation of the Japanese Government.
Crown Prince Naruhito ascended the throne as the126th Emperor of Japan on May 1, starting the Reiwa era, following theabdication of his father, Akihito, on April 30.
The coronation ceremony of Emperor Naruhito wasparticipated by a large number of domestic and foreign guests. This is one ofthe biggest international events with the largest numbers of foreign leadersthat Japan has held.
At the ceremony, Emperor Naruhito swore that hewill act according to the constitution and fulfill his responsibility as thesymbol of the state and of the unity of the people.
He expressed his hope that Japan will developfurther and contribute to the friendship and peace of the internationalcommunity, and to the welfare and prosperity of human beings through thepeople’s wisdom and ceaseless efforts.

Emperor Naruhito visited Vietnam in 2009 as theCrown Prince. His father, Akihito, was the first Japanese emperor to havevisited the country with a trip in 2017, which was also his last official tourof a foreign nation before his abdication./.

Vietnam and Japan set up diplomatic ties on Sept. 21, 1973. The two countries lifted up their ties to extensive strategic partnership in 2014 from reliable, stable, long-term partnership in 2002.
