President visits Vietnamese in Thailand

Bangkok (VNA) – President Nguyen XuanPhuc, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassyand had a meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese community in thecountry on November 17 night.

At the meeting, the President noted that his officialvisit to Thailand has been a success, with five important documents signed onthis occasion.

Phuc expressed his hope that Vietnamese in Thailandwill continue their solidarity and mutual support to contribute to bothnations, observe local law, and preserve the Vietnamese culture, especially their mothertongue.  
The leader said the two governments have agreed toestablish centres of Thai and Vietnamese languages.

Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh said Vietnamese people inThailand have actively contributed to the homeland, especially during the fightagainst the COVID-19 pandemic and the settlement of natural disasterconsequences in the central region.

The diplomat conveyed proposals of the overseasVietnamese in order to improve the position of Thai people of the Vietnameseorigin.

Nguyen Ngoc Thin, president of the general associationof Vietnamese in Thailand, called on the Vietnamese government to pay moreattention to launching Vietnamese language courses and work to enhanceeducational cooperation between the two countries.

President Phuc is in Thailand for an official visitto the country and attendance at the 29th APEC Economic Leaders' Meetingin Bangkok from November 16-19, at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha./.
