President: Vietnam welcomes GE Group’s investment expansion
Vietnam welcomes the GE Group’s plan to expand its investment in energy, aviation, and medical equipment in Vietnam, which are sectors in need of foreign investment, President Tran Dai Quang said.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam welcomes the USGeneral Electric (GE) Group’s plan to expand its investment in energy,aviation, and medical equipment in Vietnam, which are sectors in need of foreigninvestment, President Tran Dai Quang said.
Meeting with GE Chairman Jeffrey R. Immelt inHanoi on April 14, the President praised the GE’s operation in Vietnam, sayingthat the group has made practical contribution to the Vietnam-US economic,trade and investment cooperation, thus boosting the bilateral comprehensivepartnership.
He stressed that Vietnam is focusing efforts onreforming all sectors and changing its growth model in order to create a new impetusfor socio-economic development and international economic integration, andfacilitate foreign investors, including those from the US.
President Quang expressed his belief that theeconomic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and the US willdrive bilateral relations forward.
Vietnam always wishes to promote win-wincooperation with the US in a practical, comprehensive, stable and long-termmanner on the basis of mutual respect for each other’s political institutions, thePresident reiterated.
He mentioned President Donald Trump’s letter,which affirmed that he will work to boost cooperation on economics-trade andsecurity with Vietnam and coordinate to seek solutions to regional andinternational issues while considering attending the 25th APEC Summit in Vietnam.
The APEC 2017 presents opportunities for the twonations’ Governments and enterprises to strengthen cooperation, President Quangsaid, suggesting that GE and other US firms continue investing in Vietnam and pushingthe US Government to strengthen the win-win economic-trade relations. He alsocalled on US businesses to support Vietnam in hosting APEC 2017, includingfunding the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC 2017).
He appreciated the letter that GE sent to USSecretary of State Rex Tillerson to call on him and the US President to attendthe APEC Vietnam 2017.
For his part, GE Chairman Jeffrey R. Immelt informedhis host that GE has invested in a factory producing wind and steam turbinesgenerators to supply to the group’s subsidiaries in Vietnam and across theworld.
He said the GE highly valued Vietnamese workers’creativity and diligence, saying that they contribute to the success of thegroup.
He also pledged to do his utmost to call on USPresident Donald Trump to attend the APEC Vietnam 2017.-VNA
