Hanoi (VNA)– The Party, State and people of Vietnam attach special importance to thetraditional relationship with China, and consider it as a valuable asset ofboth sides, President Tran Dai Quang has stated.
He made the remarks on June 18 at a reception for Politburomember and ViceChairman of the Central Military Commission of China Senior Lieutenant General FanChanglong, who is leading a high-level military delegation on a two-day officialfriendship visit to Vietnam.
He expressed his belief that the delegation’s visit as well as their attendanceat the 4th Vietnam-China border defence friendship exchangeprogramme slated for June 20-22 in both Vietnam and China, will contribute tofurther strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Partnershipbetween the two Parties, States and people.
While speaking highly of the results of the talks between Vietnamese DefenceMinister General Ngo Xuan Lich and Senior Lieutenant General Fan, PresidentQuang urged the two sides concretise cooperation contents in the statement on joint vision on defence cooperation until 2025, in orderto deepen links between the two defence ministries, contributing to enhancingpolitical trust between the two countries.
He also highlighted the flourishing bilateral relations as high-ranking leaders reached common perception onfruitfully promoting the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Partnership.
He appreciated General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and PresidentXi Jinping’s acceptance to pay a State-level visit to Vietnam and attend the 25th APEC High-Level Week incentral Da Nang city.
For his part, Fan said the Chinese delegation’s visit aims to implementing important common perceptions agreed by the leaders of the twoParties and States, including fostering cooperation between the two armies.
The bond between the two armies forms part of the bilateral relations, hestressed, noting that high-level and border friendship exchanges between the twocountries in recent years recorded positive results.
Regarding the EastSea-related issues, the host said any dispute should be handled by peacefulmeans, with respect for each other’s interest and in line with internationallaw, in particular to fully and effectively implement the Declaration on theConduct of Parties in the East Sea (Doc) and striving for a Code of Conduct(COC) in the region.
Fan responded thatthe East Sea issue should be settled peacefully with cautions to avoidaffecting the friendship between Vietnam and China.-VNA
The fourth Vietnam-China border defence friendship exchange programme will be held in the northern bordering province of Lai Chau and Yunnan province of China from June 20-22.
