President Tran Dai Quang laid to rest in his hometown

Ninh Binh (VNA) – A burial service for PresidentTran Dai Quang took place at his hometown in Quang Thien commune, Kim Sondistrict, in the northern province of Ninh Binh on September 27.

Attending the ceremony were Politburo member and NationalAssembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, former Politburo member and formerPresident Nguyen Minh Triet, Politburo member and permanent member of the PartyCentral Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, Politburo member and permanentDeputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh,leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, representatives from massorganisations, localities, armed forces, and people from walks of life.

Leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, VietnamFatherland Front, comrades, compatriots, and family of the President observed aone-minute silence to pay their last respects to him.

Born on October 12, 1956, President Tran Dai Quang was dedicatedto the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and nation, as well as thewell-being of the people. He drew his last breath on September 21, 2018.

Together with Party and State leaders, he directed the entireParty, people, and armed forces to effectively implement the resolution adoptedby the 12th National Party Congress, as well as resolutions by the PartyCentral Committee and the National Assembly.

He worked closely with law-making, executive, and judicial organs,as well as the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organisations to exercisehis authority as State President, Chairman of the National Defence and SecurityCouncil, and head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform in linewith the Party’s policies and guidelines, constitution, and legal regulations.

His efforts contributed to the momentum of reform,developing a socialism-oriented market economy, extending external relationsand global integration, and improving Vietnam’s stature on the internationalarena.

As one of the key Party and State leaders, the President alwaysmaintained a strict sense of responsibility, set a good example, managedsolidarity and unity within the Party, listened to public opinion, placed nationalinterests above all, and was appreciated by comrades, compatriots, andinternational friends.

On behalf of the funeral organising board and thePresident’s family, permanent Deputy Prime Minister and head of the boardTruong Hoa Binh expressed thanks to mourners for attending the tribute-payingand burial service for the leader, seeing him off at his final resting place. –VNA
