President to begin state visit to Indonesia from December 21 afternoon

Hanoi (VNA) - ✤President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam will leave Hanoi on December 21 afternoon to pay a three-daystate visit to Indonesia at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Prominent among his entourage is Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.
This is the first trip to the country by a key Vietnameseleader after the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam andalso the first by a Vietnamese President over the past nine years, as the twonations are preparing for the 10th founding anniversary of strategicpartnership.
It is expected to strengthen political trust and deepen multifacetedcooperation, thus developing the bilateral relations in anincreasingly practical and effective manner.

Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s state visit to Indonesia will mark a new milestone in the unique and old relationship between the two countries, Veeramalla Anjaiah, a senior researcher at the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) in Indonesia, has said.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
