President presents Tet gifts to disadvantaged residents in Nghe An

President Tran Dai Quang on January 15 visited and handed over 100 Lunar New Year (Tet) gift packages to welfare policy beneficiaries, poor households and dioxin victims in Nam Dan district in the central province of Nghe An.

– President Tran Dai Quang on January 15 visitedand handed over 100 Lunar New Year (Tet) gift packages to welfare policybeneficiaries, poor households and dioxin victims in Nam Dan district in thecentral province of Nghe An.

President Quang spent time talking and extending New Year greetings to thelocal ethnic minority people in Nam Giang and Nam Linh communes of Nam Dandistrict.

He praised the efforts made by the provincial authorities and charity donorsin helping these disadvantaged residents overcome their difficulties and enjoythe upcoming Tet holidays.

Having lauded the socio-economic achievements Nghe An has recordedrecently, President Quang urged the province to promote inner strengths andinnovation to thrive further, adding that it must ensure the provision of heathcare, cultural and educational services for the ethnic minority groups.

To date, Nam Dan district has 18 out of 23 communes recognised asnew-style rural areas. It expects to become a new-style rural district in2017.

The same day, President Quang also visited the Military Zone 4 High Command to extend his New Year greetings.-VNA
