Hanoi (VNA)🧜 – Party General Secretary and President To Lam presented the first-class Labour Order to the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) during a ceremony in Hanoi on September 17 marking its 75th founding anniversary.

In his keynote speech, Lam praised the HCMA’s achievements over its 75-year history, stressing the academy's vital role in training and nurturing Party and political leaders at all levels. He called for continued reform in the HCMA’s training process, advocating a trainee-centred approach that eliminates superficial learning, while improving revolutionary ethics, political mettle and leadership abilities.
The HCMA needs to strongly promote research to address complex and emerging issues facing Vietnam, forecast development trends and strategic situations, identify bottlenecks that hinder national development, and provide scientific foundations for policymaking, ensuring that its strategic policies support the country’s development in the new era, he said. The president required that the academy should become a role model in Party building, political discipline, and cultivation of the Party's characteristics and culture, saying that the HCMA should shape a new generation of leaders who are innovative, responsible and dedicated to serving the nation and its people. He expressed confidence that with its proud tradition, the HCMA would continue to excel in its mission, contributing to Vietnam's ongoing reform and development in the new era.
Reflecting on the HCMA’s history, Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and HCMA Director Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang said over 75 years, the HCMA has grown into a key institution for political education and leadership training, benefiting hundreds of thousands of mid and high-ranking officials from the central to local levels, as well as foreign trainees. They are equipped with a strong political ideology, revolutionary ethics, leadership and management skills, and practical organisational expertise, which are essential for fulfilling the nation’s strategic goals and tasks throughout its various historical periods. The HCMA now operates 18 specialised institutes, 10 functional units, and regional campuses in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, and the Academy of Journalism and Communication. It also maintains close ties with political schools in all 63 cities and provinces nationwide. In recognition of its substantial contributions, the HCMA has been awarded numerous accolades by the Party and State, including the Gold Star Order, the Ho Chi Minh Order (twice), the Independence Order, the title of Labour Hero during the renewal period, and the first-class Labour Order for the second time./.
