Bern (VNA) – President of Switzerland GuyParmelin hosted an official welcome ceremony for his Vietnamese counterpartNguyen Xuan Phuc, who is paying an official visit to the European country, inBern city on November 26 morning (local time).
The two leaders held talks followingthe ceremony.
The official visit toSwitzerland by the Vietnamese President takes place amid the 50th founding anniversary of the countries’ diplomatic ties (October 1971 - 2021)and the 30th anniversary of their development cooperation. It is anillustration of their traditional friendship and close-knit relations over thelast five decades.
Switzerland is one of the most important economic partners ofVietnam in Europe. Bilateral trade hit a record of 3.6 billion USD in 2019. About140 Swiss companies, including world-class firms like Nestle, ABB, Novartis,Roche, and Holcim have been operating successfully in Vietnam. With the totalinvestment of nearly 2 billion USD, Switzerland is the sixth largest Europeaninvestor in Vietnam.
On the basis of the time-tested friendship and soundcooperation in all fields, the talks between the two Presidents are expected tocreate a new political impulse to tap into the countries’ huge potential andopen up greater cooperation opportunities, thus bringing bilateral relations tothe next level./.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to pay official visits to Switzerland and Russia from November 25 to December 2.

The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
