President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sends welcoming remarks to AIPA-42 General Assembly

Hanoi (VNA) – ASEAN must show its unity,cohesion and resilience of a Community to conquer all challenges and moveforwards, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc said in his welcoming message sent to the 42nd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-42) which wasopened on August 23 morning.
The event is hosted via video teleconference by Brunei underthe theme “Forging Parliamentary Cooperation in Digital Inclusion Towards ASEANCommunity 2025.”
On behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, PresidentNguyen Xuan Phuc extended greetings to AIPA-42 President and Speaker of theLegislative Council of Brunei Abdul Rahman Taib Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela, andspeakers and heads of delegations of AIPA member parliaments.
More than ever, ASEAN must show a right vision and its identity of unity, cohesion and resilience of a Community to surmount allchallenges and move forwards, Phuc said, adding that every step forwards theASEAN Community is taking could not be possible without the important role oflegislative bodies, represented by AIPA and member parliaments.
He also highly spoke of this year’s theme, saying Vietnamis committed to continue engaging actively and responsibly in multilateralcooperation frameworks, in both lawmaking and law enforcement.
The president expressed his confidence that the AIPA-42will be a success.
AIPA-42 President Abdul Rahman Taib Pehin Orang Kaya SeriLela later chaired discussions and approved documents on nominations of AIPA-42General Assembly’s vice president, its programme and agenda, and members ofAIPA-42 committees, as part of the first plenary session.

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue will lead a Vietnamese NA delegation to the 42nd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-42), which will be held in Brunei in videoconference format from August 23-25, according to NA Standing Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
