
The President congratulated the RoK on itsachievements in socio-economic development as well as national defence,science, technology and culture.
He noted that Park’s Vietnam visit was significant topromoting the relations between the two countries in a more intensive,effective, practical and comprehensive manner.
For his part, the Korean minister expressed his sympathy with Vietnamese people over the losses causedby recent floods. He believed that with the obtained achievements, Vietnam will become an upper-middle-income country with modernindustry by 2030.
According to the minister, despite the COVID-19pandemic, two-way trade has been rising and a large number of Korean firmshave invested in the Southeast Asian nation. The RoK has always regarded Vietnam as a strategic partnerin terms of ODA, Park affirmed.
The Korean government has issued policies to ensure safetyfor Vietnamese people who come to the RoK to live and work, and set up centres to support Korean-Vietnamese families, the minister said,suggesting Vietnam back the RoK's hosting of the World Expo 2030.
Lauding the RoK’s efforts in boosting the bilateralcooperation, President Phuc said in the face of complex developments of the worldsituation, the two countries have maintained their close cooperation through regular exchanges and high-level meetings to enhance political-diplomatictrust, along with regular dialogue and cooperation mechanisms, whilestrengthening collaboration in national defence and security, especiallydefence industry.
The President stressed that economic cooperationremains a pillar of the bilateral ties, and suggested the two sides betterutilise the Vietnam-RoK free trade agreement and the Regional ComprehensiveEconomic Partnership (RCEP), aiming to raise the bilateral trade to 100billion USD in 2023 and 150 billion USD by 2030.
Vietnam welcomes Korean investors to expand theirinvestment in the country, valued at 80 billion USD at present, especially indigital technology, electronics, renewable energy, infrastructure development, the buildingof intensive technological complexes and industrial parks, agriculture andhigh-tech, he said.
The President affirmed that Vietnam is a safe andstable destination, and creates favourable conditions for Korean firms to runlong-term business in the country for mutual development.
