President Nguyen Xuan Phuc begins State visit to Singapore
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his entourage arrived at the Changi international Airport at about 6:45 pm on February 24 (local time), starting a three-day State-level visit to Singapore at the invitation of Singaporean President Halimah Yacob.

Hanoi (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his entourage arrived at the Changi international Airport at about 6:45 pm on February 24 (localtime), starting a three-day State-level visit to Singapore at the invitationof Singaporean President Halimah Yacob.
The President, his spouse and the high-level Vietnamesedelegation were welcomed at the airport by Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs VivianBalakrishnan, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam, and VietnameseAmbassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung.
During the visit, the Vietnamese President is scheduled to meet hisSingaporean counterpart, hold talks with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and meetwith Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin.
These high-level meetings aim to promote cooperationagreements signed by the two countries, discuss new joint programmes, and deepenthe Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership. Ministries, sectors andenterprises of the two countries will also exchange documents for bilateral collaborationin many fields including economy, trade, defence, information and communications,and science-technology.
President Phuc will also attend and speak atthe Vietnam-Singapore Business Dialogue and receive many leading Singaporean companies.
Forty nine years after establishing diplomatic relations and nineyears following lifting their ties to a strategic partnership, Vietnam-Singapore trade hit 8.3 billion USD in2021, and over 783 million USD in January 2022, up 23.3 percent and 6.8 percentyear-on-year, respectively. Singapore is now one of the three biggest foreigninvestors in Vietnam with nearly 2,900 projects worth 66 billion USD in total./.

Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
