HCM City (VNA) – The administration of Ho Chi MinhCity held a ceremony at the Ho Chi Minh Museum, located at Nha Rong Wharf, onJune 5 to celebrate 110 years since the late leader’s start on a journey to lookfor ways to save the country from colonial yoke.
In his speech, Politburo member and Secretary of themunicipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen recalled the life and revolutionary career ofPresident Ho Chi Minh (1890 - 1969), who was known as Nguyen Tat Thanh when heboarded a vessel at Nha Rong Wharf on June 5, 1911, embarking on a 30-year journey around the world to seek a path to national liberation.
Nen affirmed that Ho Chi Minh left priceless andsustainable legacies for later generations, with the biggest being theaspiration for national independence and socialism.
The President’s ideology, morality, lifestyle, and theentire life he spent on fighting for national independence and people’s freedomand happiness will forever guide the country on the path to build a country ofprosperity and happiness, the officialnoted.
He added that with the patriotic tradition and solidarity,the whole city will exert joint efforts to develop and become more wealthy and civilised,thus better deserving its honour to be named after President Ho Chi Minh.

Exactly 110 years ago, on June 5, 1911, the young Nguyen Tat Thanh, using the name Van Ba, boarded the vessel Latouche-Tréville in Vietnam and headed overseas to seek a way to save the country.
More than 400 documents and newspapers featuring President Ho Chi Minh are being displayed by the Hanoi Library to mark the 110th anniversary of his departure to seek ways for national salvation (June 5).
