President attends opening of National Defence Academy’s new academic year

Hanoi (VNA) – President Vo Van Thuong on September 12 attendedthe opening ceremony of the 2023-2024 academic year of the National DefenceAcademy - the leading military scientific research and training centre of the armyand Vietnam at large.
Thuong requested the academy to continue working to increase the quality of education and training andactively contribute to improving the capacity of officers to meet requirements ofthe nation building and safeguarding in the new situation.
He stressed the need for the academy to develop military, defence andsecurity theories, especially new awareness and new thinking on nationsafeguarding.
It is also important to analyse, research, evaluate andaccurately forecast situations related to national defence and security, with a view to promptly giving advice to the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of NationalDefence on policies and preventive measures to protect the Fatherland early andfrom afar, he added.
The president asked the academy to pay due attention to building a team of lecturers and scientistswith strong political will and absolute loyalty to Marxism-Leninism, the Ho ChiMinh thought, and the Party, State, people and army, and high qualifications.
President Thuong also emphasised the importance of promoting cooperation with defenceand military academies and universities around the world to open more training classesfor international defence officers, adding that this is a very important task,contributing to implementing the foreign policy of the Party and State in thecurrent situation./.
The successful August Revolution in 1945 was the first great victory of Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, opening a great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese nation. From here, it entered a new era of independence, freedom and socialism.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
He also pledged that the NA will promote its ongoing supervision, making sure that every promise must lead to results, and every commitment must bring about real changes.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
