Lao Cai (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang onJanuary 13 attended a flag hoisting ceremony on the summit of the Fansipan Mountainin the northern provinceof Lao Cai and the inauguration of a flagpole on the “Roof of Indochina.”
The 25m flagpole is built at an altitude of 3,141m using monolithicstone with its four sides decorated with high reliefs depicting the country’s famousscenic spots such as Ha Long, northwestern mountainous and Central Highlandregions.
It is part of the Fansipan Legend tourism area invested bySun Group in Sa Pa district of Lao Cai.
The same day, President Tran Dai Quang also visited borderguards at the Lao Cai international border gate.
The President lauded achievements that the armed forces ofLao Cai have made in 2016 and asked the officers and soldiers at the border postto focus on building a strong and pure unit to fulfil all the assigned tasks,thus joining the local Party Organisation, government and people to successful implementingall targets.
The post should also strengthen coordination with otherforces based in the locality and local authorities to ensure stability,security and order in the border province, he requested.
The President also urged the border guards to strengthen thecollaboration with border guard force of China in the prevention and combatof crimes and protecting security and order, contributing to building a sharedborder of peace, friendship, stability and development.

The world’s longest three-rope cable car system was inaugurated in Lao Cai province on February 2 to connect Muong Hoa Valley with Fansipan Mountain – the so-called “Roof of Indochina”.
The world’s longest and most modern three-rope cable car system connecting Sapa to Fansipan peak, dubbed as the Roof of Indochina has served tens of thousands of tourists after one month of operation.
Fansipan in Sa Pa, Lao Cai, 3,143m high, dubbed as the Indochina's roof, is now an attractive destinations with the modern cable system, earning two world records granted by the Guinness World Record.
