A naval ship has carried reporters and officers of the Navy Command Zone3 to the island districts of Con Co and Ly Son in the central provincesof Quang Tri and Quang Ngai to distribute Tet gifts to local people andsoldiers stationed on the islands.
In Con Co district, Quang Triprovince, the delegation paid floral tribute at the Con Co MartyrMemorial, which is dedicated to 103 soldiers and officers who laid downtheir lives during the American war.
They delivered Tet gifts to soldiers, policemen and local people in the district.
Le Quang Lanh, Secretary of the Con Co district Party Committee, toldthe guests that the local administration has stocked a broad range offood to prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
For their part, military units have planned duty timetables to ensuretheir staff can enjoy a cosy Tet, the country’s biggest festive season,when they are not on duty.
In Ly Son district, the officers andreporters toured administrative units and brought gifts to the staffworking at the Ly Son Radar Station.
According to Colonel Bui VanTam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy Command Zone 3, the Commandhas organized regular visits to soldiers and local people in thedistricts to encourage them to remain strong in protecting the country’ssea and island sovereignty.
During these pre-Tet visits, whichran from January 9-12, the naval officers also inspected the combatreadiness of military units and local people in the two outpostdistricts.-VNA
