Poll: Majority say Thai PM Prayut performs well

A majority of people say Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has performed well as Prime Minister of Thailand during the past four years, according to the result of an opinion poll conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA).

Bangkok (VNA) - A majority of people say PrimeMinister Prayut Chan-o-cha has performed well as Prime Minister ofThailand during the past four years, according to the result of an opinion pollconducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA).

The poll was conducted from August 20-23on nearly 1,300 people aged 18 and above to compile their opinions on Prayut'spremiership after four years in office.

On his overall performance, over 22percent of the respondents said Prayut has performed very well as the Prime Ministerand nearly 50 percent fairly well, citing achievements such as law and order,and suppression of corruption; 18.28 percent said he has not performed wellenough, particularly in solving economic problems; and nearly 10 percent said Prayuthas performed poorly, especially in terms of equality and the economy.

Asked abouthis ideology, more than 77 percent said Prayut is a person who works for the peopleand the nation; and close to 19 percent said he has no ideology but worksonly for his own interests and the National Council for Peace and Order.

On decisiveness, nearly 78 percent said Prayuthas made many important political and administrative decisions; and some 20percent said he does not dare to make important decisions.

On leadership, around 73 percent saidPrayut is a military-style leader; and more than 15 percent said he has a democratic style of leadership.

On transparency, more than 60 percent saidPrayut's work style is transparent and accountable.-VNA
