Hanoi (VNA) – Poland’s President Andrzej Duda and his spouse begin their four-day Statevisit to Vietnam on November 27 at the invitation of President Tran Dai Quang.
The visit manifests Poland’s wish to step up the traditional friendship and multifacetedcooperation with Vietnam.
It seeks to boost cooperation across fields of both sides’ interests andbenefits, especially trade, investment, development cooperation, and defence.
On the occasion, thetwo sides will exchange information and measures to coordinate and support eachother at regional and international forums.
Poland has placed importance on Vietnam’s role and position in its foreignpolicy towards Asia, considering Vietnam a leading partner in Southeast Asia.
Poland is Vietnam’stop trade partner in Central Eastern Europe, while Vietnam is Poland’s seventhlargest trade partner outside the EU.
Two-way trade hit790 million USD in 2016, of which Vietnam’s export revenue to Poland was 598million USD. In the first nine months of this year, bilateral trade valuereached 730 million USD.
As of October 2017,Poland had 14 investment projects in Vietnam, with total capital of 182.88million USD. In 2014-2017, Poland’s investment in Vietnam doubled, mainly inreal estate, processing and services.
Vietnam has investedin four projects in Poland worth about 5.1 million USD, specialising inservices and food industry.
Currently, about40,000 Vietnamese are living in Poland, contributing to ties between the twocountries. -VNA
