PM urges swift replies to public petitions

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked ministers, leaders of relevant agencies and chairpersons of provincial and municipal people’s committees to speed up replies to comments and petitions they receive from the public.

Hanoi (VNA) - PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked ministers, leaders of relevant agencies andchairpersons of provincial and municipal people’s committees to speed upreplies to comments and petitions they receive from the public.

The PM’s request follows a Government Office report on thewebsite  nguoidan.chinhphu.vn in the second quarter this yearabout the processing of petitions.

PM Phuc requested senior officials to strictly adhere toregulations on receiving, processing and answering petitions from individualsand companies as promulgated on the Government Portal on April 25 this year.

The PM asked the chairperson of people’s committees of Kien Giang,Soc Trang and Thai Binh provinces, Hanoi, and HCM City to accelerate tardy work in processing and answering residents’ petition on the GovernmentPortal.

The PM assigned the Government Office to periodically collectinformation about the receipt, processing and answering of petitions. Theinformation should be supplied to the press, and published on the GovernmentPortal and on the websites of the Administrative Procedures Control Agency andthe Government Office.

The Government Office report showed that in the second quarterthis year the website nguoidan.chinhphu.vn received a total of783 ideas and petitions from the public.

As many as 656 ideas are about the conduct of State workers,making up 84 percent of the total ideas. Petitions related to administrativeregulations make up 16 percent.

The Government Office forwarded 291 comments to relevantministries, agencies and localities for consideration. The remaining 491 arewaiting for supplemental information from those who filed them.

By June 28, 118 out of 291 comments were checked and answered. Theanswers are published on the Government Portal. As many as 173 other commentsare being processed and checked.

Public comments have resulted in warnings and punishments ofseveral State employees, according to the Government Office.

The website nguoidan.chinhphu.vn has operatedsince April this year to receive petitions and comments from residents.-VNA
