PM requests tighter inspections to prevent corruption

Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on January 12 chaired a meeting withrepresentatives from ministries, sectors and localities on prevention and combat of corruption and negative phenomena, during which he stressed the needto intensify inspection and examination.

He said that in the past year, the prevention and combat of corruption and negative phenomena was carried out continuously and drastically from theGovernment to the local authorities, demonstrating a high politicaldetermination and achieving remarkable results.

However, he pointed out, there remains much to be done now, including improving the quality of inspections and thecapacity of those involved in this work, renewing law dissemination andeducation, and stepping up thematic and specialisedinspections.

The Government leader requested strengthening inspections, especially on the responsibilities of the leaders,including the heads of ministries, sectors and localities; and focusing on major programmes such as COVID-19 prevention and control and socio-economicrecovery and development programmes.

He proposed the internal affairs sector to speed up theinvestigation, verification and judgment of cases in accordance with the law, andin the spirit of no forbidden zones and no exceptions./.
