PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc leaves for 26th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc left Hanoi on the night of November 16 for Papua New Guinea to attend the 26th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on November 17-18 at the invitation of Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc left Hanoi onthe night of November 16 for Papua New Guinea to attend the 26th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on November 17-18 at the invitation of Papua NewGuinea’s Prime Minister Peter  O’Neill.

He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh,Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, Minister ofInformation and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, and others.

2018 marked Vietnam’s 20-year membership in the Asia-Pacific EconomicCooperation (APEC) forum.

Vietnam is among a few APEC members having hosted APEC summits twice, in 2006and 2017.

It is also among the most active members in proposing ideas andprojects, authoring more than 100 projects in various fields.

The country has held many positions in APEC committees and workinggroups. Its business community also actively participates in and makes manyrecommendations to APEC.

“Vietnam will continue to accompany APEC in the next development period,join hands in building a strategic vision on an Asian-Pacific community ofpeace, stability, dynamism, innovation, and prosperity,” Deputy Prime Minister andForeign Minister Pham Binh Minh said in an article titled “20 years in APEC:from a strategic vision to Vietnam’s imprints”.-VNA
