QuangNam (VNA) – PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged concerted efforts to help flood-affected people in thecentral province of Quang Nam amid complicated developments of floods andrains.
During aworking session with leaders of Quang Nam province and Hoi An city on November7, PM Phuc asked the local authorities to actively work out rescue plans, ensurefood for residents, and help them stabilise their lives.
He urgedrelevant sectors and agencies to mobilise all possible forces, including army,police, youths and organisations to help locals overcome damage caused byfloods and rains, particularly houses and schools.
The PMinstructed Hoi An city to take drastic measures and to ensure hygiene of thepost-flood environment to serve activities within the framework of the APEC2017 Economic Leaders’ Week.
Cautionshould be exercised when dealing with flooded key relic sites in Hoi An ancientcity, he noted, adding that the preservation work needs to be accelerated toensure early resumption of the damaged tourism sites.
Aftervisiting a number of deeply inundated areas in Hoi An city, PM Phuc visited andpresented gifts to several local heavily-affected households.
Accordingto Quang Nam authorities, Hoi An city suffered from prolonged and severe floodsfrom November 5 – 7 due to heavy rains, high tides and water discharged fromreservoirs on Thu Bon river’s upstream areas.-VNA
