Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the project to build a 500kV electric transmission line from Quang Trach district of the central province of Quang Binh to Pho Noi of northern Hung Yen province, and presented Tet gifts to workers at the site.
The project consists of four component subprojects, with a total length of 519km and a total investment of about 22 trillion VND (894.12 million USD). It crosses 211 communes and wards in 43 districts of nine provinces.
The first component subproject was launched on October 25, 2023, while the remaining three were started on January 18, 2024.
PM Chinh visited four positions of the project in four provinces of Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa.
The Government leader underlined the significance of the project as a major and urgent one with an important role in ensuring national energy security, especially for the northern region.
He hailed the efforts by the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) as well as relevant ministries, sectors, and localities in overcoming difficulties to implement the project.
He asked ministries, sectors, and the EVN to work closely with local administrations and relevant agencies to mobilise personnel and vehicles and speed up the progress of the project, striving to complete and put the project into operations in June.
The PM requested localities to promptly hand over grounds to the project and show strong performance in compensation work.
He also called on residents of the localities, especially affected ones, to continue supporting the project./.
The northern region is facing a high risk of serious electricity shortage this summer due to rising demands and low output of hydropower plants as a result of unfavourable weather conditions, according to the Vietnam Electricity (EVN).
The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) will commence 34 electricity transmission projects and complete 63 others this year, its Chairman of the Member Council Nguyen Tuan Tung told a conference held in Hanoi on January 2.
Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and its National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) on January 18 simultaneously began the construction of various 500kV circuit-3 transmission lines in the provinces of Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, and Thai Binh.
The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) on January 26 signed credit contracts worth over 15.6 trillion VND (634 million USD) with five banks to implement projects to build the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line section from Quang Trach to Pho Noi.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
