Hung Yen (VNA) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 7 attended the inauguration of a 23.83-km road in the northern province of Hung Yen, which connects the Hanoi-Hai Phong and Cau Gie-Ninh Binh expressways.

The road, built at a total cost of over 1.77 trillion VND (69.63 million USD), starting from the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway in Yen My district to Hung Yen city, links with a road crossing Ha Nam province before connecting with the Cau Gie-Ninh Binh expressway.

It allows vehicles to travel at a speed of 80km per hour, aiming to increase the exploitation of the two expressways and reduce transport pressure for Hanoi.

Along with the main road, Hung Yen is working on the side roads with a total investment of over 1.41 billion VND, which are scheduled to complete in September.

Chinh said that the construction of the road is not only in line with the Party and State's policy on implementing three strategic breakthroughs but also shows the renovation mindset and vision of Hung Yen.

The road, which shortens travel time between Hung Yen and Hanoi as well as regional localities, creates a new development space with new industrial and service areas, reducing the logistics cost for businesses.

He thanked local residents for giving land to the project, and hailed the contractor's efforts to shorten the construction time of the road by eight months.

The leader asked Hung Yen and relevant ministries, sectors and agencies to effectively and safely exploit the road and conduct regular maintenance, while considering the upgrade of the road into an expressway by 2025.

The same day, PM Chinh also attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Tan Phuc-Vong Phan road, which has a length of 29.2km and a total investment of over 2.98 trillion VND from the local budget.

Crossing 14 communes of An Thi, Tien Lu and Phu Cu district, it is considered the third “backbone” of Hung Yen after National Highway 39 and the road connecting Hanoi-Hai Phong and Cau Gie-Ninh Binh expressways. Its construction period will be 720 days.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Government leader underscored that the construction of the road is a strategic choice of Hung Yen, contributing to ending the situation of single entry to three poorest districts of the province, namely An Thi, Tien Lu, and Phu Cu.

He asked Hung Yen, the project management board, and contractors to continue coordinating closely together in ground clearance and resettlement activities, and ensure the progress and quality of the project.

He called on the local community and businesses to join hands with the Party Organisation and administration of Hung Yen to continue the renovation atmosphere, creating breakthroughs in strategic infrastructure development for the benefit of Hung Yen and their own.
