PM chairs first meeting of national steering committee for cyber security
The national steering committee for cyber safety and security made its debut and convened its first meeting in Hanoi on November 24 under the chair of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is also head of the committee.

Hanoi (VNA) – The national steeringcommittee for cyber safety and security made its debut and convened its firstmeeting in Hanoi on November 24 under the chair of
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is also head of the committee.
The meeting also saw the attendance of PermanentDeputy PM Truong Hoa Binh, standing deputy head of the committee; Deputy PM VuDuc Dam, deputy head of the committee; Minister of Public Security Gen. To Lam,deputy head of the committee; and members of the committee and the committee’soffice.
The steering committee reviewed the cyber safety andsecurity situation and gave opinions to its working plans for 2020, 2021 and thenext five years.
In his conclusion, PM Phuc asked members of thesteering committee, the Ministry of Public Security in its capacity as thestanding agency of the steering committee, the steering committee’s office andrelevant ministries and agencies to urgently take measures to ensure cyber safetyand security as the country is preparing for the organization of the 13th National Party Congress and the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and deputies to the People’s Councils at all levels for the2021-2026 tenure.
He requested centrally-run provinces and cities acrossthe country to soon establish their own subcommittees for cyber safety andsecurity.
The government leader also pointed out severalurgent tasks that must be dealt with immediately to meet requirements in thecurrent situation./.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information held a virtual minister-level conference on cyber security on September 29.
Stephan Neumeier, Managing Director of Russia’s Kaspersky Lab Asia Pacific, said the company is willing to share its experience and security solutions to help protect Vietnam from cyber attacks.
As an ASEAN member state, Vietnam commits to actively and responsibly joining regional cooperation mechanisms to ensure security and safety of cyber space, said Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieut. Gen. Luong Tam Quang.
The number of IP addresses of computers in virus-infected computer networks (IP Botnet) has decreased sharply from more than two million IP addresses to over 1.3 million from September 18 so far.
There were over 4,100 cyber attacks targeting Vietnam’s information systems in the first 10 months of 2020, down 7.8 percent against the same period last year, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) under the Ministry of Information and Communications’ Authority of Information Security has reported.

More than an art showcase, the second “Technology with heart” contest seeks to inspire innovation and spotlight the humanistic values that technology can bring into daily life, expected to contribute to a sustainable digital future.
The average speed of the national mobile broadband network remained stable, with download speeds reaching 76.86 Mbps and upload speeds reaching 26.98 Mbps.
