Planning tasks approved for Mau Son national tourism site
The Prime Minister has approved the planning tasks regarding the development of the Mau Son national tourism site in the northern province of Lang Son to 2040.

Hanoi (VNA) – The PrimeMinister has approved the planning tasks regarding the development of the MauSon national tourism site in the northern province of Lang Son to 2040.
The tourism site is located onthe Mau Son mountain range 30km to the east of Lang Son city, at the borderwith China. The mountain range comprises of 80 mountain peaks between 800-1,000m high.
The area was once designated asa resort in 1935 by the French colonialists, who built many villas there. Thearea now attracts tourists, especially in winter when the temperature drops tounder zero and there is some time snow and frost. Mau Son is also well knownfor several local specialties such as Shan Tuyet tea, six-spurred cocks, wineand peach. It has been designated for ecological, cultural and hiking tourismby Lang Son province.
The overall target is to turn MauSon into a resort and entertainment hub of the northern mountainous region,serving cultural, spiritual and ecological tourism, while contributing tomaintaining security-defence through creating jobs for local people.
At the same time, the naturallandscape and local cultural and spiritual values specific to Mau Son will bepreserved.
The Mau Son national tourismsite is envisioned to cover the entire Cong Son and Mau Son communes in Cao Locdistrict, and Mau Son commune in Loc Binh district, along with part of the BangKhanh, Xuan Man, Dong Buc, Huu Khanh and Yen Khoai in Loc Binh district, with atotal area of around 14,964ha.
The population in the site isprojected to reach 12,000 – 15,000 in 2030 and 20,000-30,000 in 2040. The siteis hoped to attract 800,000 – 1 million visitors a year by 2030 and 1.5-2million visitors by 2040.
The planning tasks include anassessment of the current situation, analysis of the area’s position in theregion and orientations for technical infrastructure and space development.-VNA
Temperature in Mau Son tourism site in Loc Binh district, the northern mountainous province of Lang Son continued to fall as low as minus 1.6 degree Celsius as of 7 a.m on January 30.
Low temperature along with drizzle and high humidity caused snowfall in many mountainous areas in the north such as O Quy Ho (Lao Cai), Cao Ma (Ha Giang), and Mau Son (Lang Son).
Many places in the north of Vietnam are covered in frost due to the longest lasting intense cold spell in two years, said the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
The tourism sector in the northern mountainous province of Lang Son is striving to receive 2.7 million visitors in 2018, including 408.000 foreigners, raking in 970 billion VND (42.7 million USD).
The first and only direct service connecting the two countries at the moment is set to operate three times per week using the modern wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The northern midland province of Phu Tho has carried out all-round measures to improve tourism infrastructure, services, and offerings, elevating visitor experience and reinforcing the province’s unique cultural identity.
Hanoi has directed lodging providers and tourist destinations to bolster preparations in staffing, service quality, security, and sanitation. Community-based lodging platforms such as Airbnb are also being promoted strongly to expand housing supply during the holiday period.
