Hanoi (VNA) -
Many artists have created their art pieces with imagesof pigs, as the animal is the zodiac sign of 2019. Artist Dinh Cong Dat is oneof them.

Hanoian artist Dinh Cong Dat graduated from the sculpture department of HanoiFine Art University in 1994.

He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions across the nationand the world, such as Fielding Lecht Gallery in Texas, the US, the BanksideGallery in London, and the Iskandar Gallery in Paris, France.

For this new lunar year, he introduced pig sculptures made from paper powderand immediately gained public attention.

Dat painted square patterns on the pigs’ backs, explaining that these depict thepaddy fields that he came across whenever flying home after overseas trips.

“I think there’s more to tradition than the spiral patterns as commonly seen inDong Ho paintings. As you may know when travelling by plane, images we seethrough the window are paddy fields and residential areas, and others. They arebeautiful and they comprise our country,” he said.

“In my opinion, the pig symbolises sufficiency and wealth. So through myartworks, I would like to extend my best wishes for all of you in this lunaryear,” he added.-VNA
