- A photo exhibitionfeaturing well-known film locations across Vietnam will be held in Hanoi fromOctober 21-31.

The event will be co-organised by the VietnamCinema Department and the Vietnam Film Institute as part of the fifth Hanoi InternationalFilm Festival.

More than 40 photos will be displayed at theexhibition, showing scenes and landscapes that have appeared in famous filmsproduced in Vietnam.

Movie lovers in Hanoi and international guestswho attend the international film festival will have the chance to admire Vietnam’sstunning natural scenery, including many famous landscapes recognised by UNESCOas world natural heritage sites and unique cultural spaces around the country.

Such unique natural and cultural spots haveoften been selected as the filming locations by Vietnamese and foreignfilmmakers, including many big-name production firms from Hollywood and acrossthe world.

They include Trang An and Ha Long Bay in thenorthern provinces of Ninh Binh and Quang Ninh, respectively, Dong Van stoneplateau in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang and Phong Nha – Ke BangNational Park in the central province of Quang Binh.

The beautiful landscapes have enchanted filmaudiences and at the same time contributed to promoting Vietnamese tourism tothe world.

In the blockbuster Kong: Skull Island, forexample, the filmmaker chose Ha Long Bay – a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site– for some dramatic scenes.

The producer, Alex Garcia, said that it was agreat privilege for the crew to shoot among Vietnam’s beautiful nature.

Previously, Ha Long Bay also appearedin Hollywood blockbuster Peter Pan and some other films.

The prganisers expect the exhibition, revealingthe film locations through photos, will help boost national tourism and cultureand bring the image of the country to the world.

More than 500 movies from nearly 50 countriesand territories will be screened during the fifth Hanoi International Film Festival.

Themed ‘Cinema: Integration and SustainableDevelopment’, the festival is slated for October 27-31. It looks to honouroutstanding cinematographic works with high artistic and humanitarian valuesand creativity, while also encouraging new movie talents.

It also hopes to expand the Vietnamese cinemamarket, thus promoting the country’s image to international friends.

Films for the competition are selected from manycountries and territories around the world, some of which have never competedin international film festivals in Asia.-VNA
