Hanoi (VNA) –
According to thepreliminary results of the Philippines’ Commission on Elections on May 14,President Rodrigo Duterte’s allies are headed for a sweeping victory in themid-term Senate elections.

The results, comprising of nearly 95 percent ofvotes, showed that candidates endorsed by President Duterte won 8 out of the 12seats up for grabs in the 24-member Senate.

The EC is scheduled to officially announcewinners in the next few days.

Earlier, on May 13, nearly 62 million Filipinosregistered to vote to elect new members of the Senate and the House ofRepresentatives as well as city councillors and mayors.-VNA
