Hanoi (VNA)🧸 – Kanlaon volcano in the central Philippines is emitting plumes that rise to 5km, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PIVS) said on June 3.

PIVS said the eruption of Kanlaon began at 6:51 pm, with the volcano sending a vertical plume into the atmosphere. It lasted 6 minutes and was followed by a relatively strong volcanic-tectonic earthquake.
Alert Level 2 or "increasing unrest" has been raised over the volcano. Residents were urged to evacuate since they are within the 4km permanent danger zone. Mount Kanlaon is situated between the provinces of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental. It is the highest peak on the island of Negros, standing at an elevation of 2,465m above sea level. Its most recent eruption occurred in December 2017./.
