Hanoi (VNA) - The Philippine Air Force(PAF) and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) conducted a four-day jointdrill on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief from July 5.

According to the Japanese Embassy in Manila, the joint drill,held at Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City, Pampanga, is the first Air-to-Airbilateral training between the two air forces, marking a significant milestonefor defence cooperation between Japan and the Philippines.

▨ The training aimed to strengthen interoperability in delivering relief goods toaffected people in an isolated areas in severe emergency situations, the embassy said in a statement.

Japan and the Philippines have increased theircooperation in defence. The Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force has held severaljoint exercises with the Philippine navy./.
