Hanoi (VNA) –⭕ Ferdinand Marcos Jr., son of formerPhilippine President Ferdinand Marcos, on October 5 announced his plan to runfor the presidency of the Philippines in the upcoming May 2022 elections.

In a live broadcast on social media, the 64-year-oldpolitician voiced his belief that he will succeed in the important event. Marcos Jr was in second place behind incumbent President RodrigoDuterte's daughter, Sara Duterte-Carpio, in a recent PulseAsia Research surveyof voter preference for president, though she has denied plans to run. Philippine boxing great Manny Pacquiao and celebrity mayorFrancisco Domagoso have confirmed they will seek the top job.
