Philippine military declares humanitarian cease-fire in Marawi
The Philippine military on June 25 began to halt air and ground offensive against Islamic militants in southern Marawi city to allow residents to celebrate the end of the Ramadan festival.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Philippine militaryon June 25 began to halt air and ground offensive against Islamic militants insouthern Marawi city to allow residents to celebrate the end of the Ramadanfestival.
Military spokesperson Brigadier GeneralRestituto Padilla said the humanitarian pause took effect at 6:00 am on June 25(Philippine time) and will last for eight hours.
However, the cease-fire will be lifted immediatelyif the militants open fire or threaten troops and civilians, he added.
About 230 militants, 59 soldiers and 26civilians have been killed in fighting in Marawi. More than 309,000 people havebeen displaced in Marawi and nearby areas.-VNA
