PT Astra International, the largest distributor of Peugeot vehicles in Indonesia, has announced the cessation of Peugeot vehicle sales, ending the French brand’s 52-year presence in the Southeast Asian country.

THACO AUTO, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s Truong Hai Group (THACO), and Peugeot have launched the New Peugeot 408 in Vietnam.

Truong Hai Auto Joint Stock Company (Thaco), and French automotive manufacturer Peugeot recently announced their strategic cooperation in motorcycle manufacturing for domestic distribution and export.

Motorcycle sales in 2018 broke the record set seven years ago (3.3 million) with nearly 3.4 million vehicles sold in the domestic market during the year.

French automaker Peugeot held an event at the Vietnam Embassy in France on April 1 to mark the return of its high-end scooters to the Southeast Asian country after 60 years.
