After several rounds of feedback from ministries, sectors, and experts, the Ministry of Transport is finalising the proposal for the construction of the North-South high-speed railway, as the funding plan for the project has shown positive signs, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy has said.
The 140-year-old railway, considered outdated in Vietnam, will undergo the most significant infrastructure transformation in decades, as the North-South high-speed railway project will be submitted to the Politburo in March, and the National Assembly within this year.
The Dung Quat oil refinery, tasked with helping guarantee national energy security and boost economic growth in the central region, has made substantial contributions to the development of local transport, seaport, and logistics infrastructure.
The railway sector will focus on improving the service quality and facilities so as to attract passengers back and to return to its key position in transportation forms.
The Ministry of Transport has clarified on its website that it has not issued any instructions to stop the pilot implementation of passenger e-hailing projects such as Grab and Uber.
