Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong opened a forum on Vietnam-Japan investment, trade and labour cooperation in Kanagawa Prefecture on September 18 as part of his visit to Japan.

Addressing an audience of local officials including Kanagawa Governor Kuroiwa Yuji and more than 400 business representatives, the Party leader said the comprehensive friendship and cooperation relationship between the two countries is now at its peak so far.

“On the basis of achieved results, Vietnam wishes to deepen the ties with Japan in all fields, especially in the economic field,” he said, stressing that boosting economic cooperation between the two countries is an objective demand which will bring both immediate and long-term benefits to the business communities and people of the two countries.

The General Secretary said with political trust, cultural similarities, friendship, compatible interests and complementary economies, Vietnam and Japan have all conditions to continuously develop their relationship in the principle of “enhancing trust, increasing economic connectivity, expanding cooperation, developing sustainably and looking towards the future.”

The Vietnam Day, which was launched in Kanagawa the same day, and the forum demonstrate the huge potential and desire for stronger cooperation between the two countries.

He urged local authorities and business communities of both countries to lead the way in realising agreements signed by leaders of the two countries, positively contributing to bringing the cooperation of the two countries to a new level.

Do Nhat Hoang, head of the Foreign Investment Agency, took the occasion to introduce Japanese enterprises to𓆉 new investment incentives for foreign investors, especially those in infrastructure building. He also answered questions from Japanese enterprises relating to investment procedures in Vietnam.-VNA
